6/26	Spirit of America All Mustang Car Show --  Phoebus

	Once again the City of Hampton will close the 
	streets of Phoebus and fill them with Mustangs. You are 
	invited to be part of this annual event which includes fun, 
	food, music, prizes, shopping, vendors and much more. Last 
	year\u2019s show attracted over 100 Mustangs ranging from 
	1964 to present models. The show runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 
	PM. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and all cars must be in 
	place by noon. This will be a Top 75 show with Specialty 
	Awards. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 
	registered cars. Pre-registration is $20.00 per car if 
	registered by June 16 and will receive a pre-registration 
	gift. After June 16 the registration will be $25.00. The 
	York River Symphony Orchestra and Phoebus Rio will perform

07/04	Sam's, Freedom Car Wash 4th of July car show  -- Virginia Beach

	VIRGINIA BEACH, VA \u2013 Sam's Club #6368 and 
	Freedom Car Wash on Independence Boulevard are holding 
	their annual a 4th of July car show to benefit CHKD. The 
	event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Freedom Car 
	Wash parking lot at Independence and South Holland Road, 
	will include face painting, ice cream, barbecue, hot dogs 
	and an appearance by the Kal Bones Racing Team. All makes 
	and models of cars, trucks and motorcycles are accepted. 
	After the show, you can cap the night watching fireworks 
	over Mount Trashmore. Proceeds for the event go to CHKD and

	SEMA SECURES U.S. SENATE RESOLUTION DESIGNATING 
	JULY 9th AS *COLLECTOR CAR APPRECIATION DAY* 
	Lawmakers Acknowledge Importance of Collection and 
	Restoration of Historic and Classic Cars (Washington, D.C. 
	- May 7, 2010) The United States Senate passed Senate 
	Resolution 513 (S. Res. 513) at the request of the 
	Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the 
	Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) Council 
	designating July 9, 2010 as Collector Car 
	Appreciation Day. The resolution was the result of an 
	effort undertaken by ARMO as a means to raise awareness of 
	the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays 
	in American society. S. Res. 513 was sponsored by 
	Congressional Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus 
	members Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and Senator Richard Burr 
	(R-NC). Senators Tester and Burr have been strong advocates 
	for the automotive hobby in Washington, and S. Res. 513 
	reaffirms their understanding of the cultural importance of 
	collector cars. The Caucus is an informal, non-partisan 
	group that pays tribute to America's ever growing love 
	affair with the car and motorsports. The Caucus recognizes

	SONIC Drive-Ins Car Show Explosion to benefit Relay

	JULY 9th AS *COLLECTOR CAR APPRECIATION DAY* 
	Lawmakers Acknowledge Importance of Collection and 
	Restoration of Historic and Classic Cars (Washington, D.C. 
	- May 7, 2010) The United States Senate passed Senate 
	Resolution 513 (S. Res. 513) at the request of the 
	Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the 
	Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) Council 
	designating July 9, 2010 as Collector Car 
	Appreciation Day. The resolution was the result of an 
	effort undertaken by ARMO as a means to raise awareness of 
	the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays 
	in American society. S. Res. 513 was sponsored by 
	Congressional Automotive Performance and Motorsports Caucus 
	members Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and Senator Richard Burr 
	(R-NC). Senators Tester and Burr have been strong advocates 
	for the automotive hobby in Washington, and S. Res. 513 
	reaffirms their understanding of the cultural importance of 
	collector cars. The Caucus is an informal, non-partisan 
	group that pays tribute to America's ever growing love 
	affair with the car and motorsports. The Caucus recognizes 
	the integral role collector cars have played in fostering 
	our nation's appreciation for motorsports. The 
	resolution was the result of an effort undertaken by SEMA 
	and its councils as a means to raise awareness of the vital 
	role automotive restoration and collection plays in 
	American society. Restoration businesses help save our 
	nation's heritage while providing well-paying, 
	high-skilled jobs nationwide. SEMA Vice President of 
	Government Affairs Steve McDonald said, We greatly 
	appreciate the United States Senate's recognition of 
	the important role classic car restoration serves in our 
	country. As Americans gather at car cruises and other 
	events in conjunction with \u2018Collector Car Appreciation 
	Day' on July 9, these vital contributions will be 
	honored and preserved. In recognition of the day, 
	collectors and enthusiasts will be hosting events across 
	the country. Jim Barber, Chairman of SEMA's Automotive 
	Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) Council said, 
	Individuals, car clubs, and businesses affiliated 
	with ARMO are proud to be recognized as leaders in 
	today's economy. Car cruises, club gatherings, and

    Update:

	What: "Gathering of Mountain Eagles" Poker Run

	When: May 29 (this Saturday) Registration from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.  
	Vehicle starts begin at 10:00 AM.  Awards determined at 4:00 PM.
	Should take about 1-1/2 to 2 hrs to complete.  You do not have to be present to win.   

	Where: Starts at Hampton Roads Harley Davidson (HRHD) to Endview Plantation 
	to Pierce's BBQ to Yorktown Battlefield and then back to HRHD

	Why:  To support the wounded/injured of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. 
	The charity Gathering of Mountain Eagles supports Wounded Warriors by 
	supplementing their medical recovery by challenging and thanking them.  
	The challenge takes the form of whitewater rafting, mountain climbing, 
	skiing/snowboarding, zipline courses, golf tournaments, etc.  At the same 
	time the GME gathers government, military, civic leaders, veterans and 
	other Americans who appreciate their sacrifices for dinners and other 
	public appearances to thank the Wounded Warriors.

	Contributions: Cost of $10 per hand. Any type of vehicle, any number of 
	hands.  Top five hands plus worst hand win prizes.

 05/29	Gathering of Mountain Eagles Wounded Warrior Poker Run  --  Grafton

	The Poker Run starts at Hampton Roads Harley 
	Davidson (HRHD) in Grafton, then to Williamsburg, to 
	Jamestown, to Yorktown (via the Colonial Parkway) and back 
	to HRHD. We start from at 9-11 AM with prizes awarded at 4 
	PM on 29 May (Saturday). Gathering of Mountain Eagles 
	supports wounded warriors by taking them out of hospitals / 
	medical units to conduct what we call "adventure therapy." 
	We take them whitewater rafting, snow skiing, golf 
	challenges, zipline courses, etc. to challenge them. 
	Concurrently with a "Gathering" we line up veterans diners 
	and other activities to thank them and show them that they 
	are appreciated. We have conducted four "Gatherings" so far 
	with 71 participants. Our next "Gathering is 28 July - 1 
	Aug. in WV.

passed away on May 8th.  He's attended many of our Hall shows and had a big beard

5/7   Tidewater Mopar Club Friday night at the Smithfield cruise-in  --  Smithfield

      { from TMC member Dick Collins: }

      Friday night, May 7th is Tidewater Mopar Club night at the Smithfield 
      cruise-in held in the NAPA store parking lot at 1802 S Church Street in 
      Smithfield, from 6:00 -- 9:00 pm.  

      These Friday night shows are an all wheels event and have taken on a life 
      of their own this year with great turnouts.  The first show had 79 cars, 
      trucks and motor cycles. This past week, 16 April, there were 83 attendees 
      with the local Mustang club as the featured group.

      The nights have been great with Tom Norris providing music as a backdrop 
      to the cars and food and drinks available from Don's Hot Dogs.

      We'd like to have  8 -- 12 Mopars attend as the featured club with a reserved 
      parking area.  I have a few cars already signed up but, still need more, if 
      you're planning on attending, please drop me a return Email so I can let the 
      Lions Club know how many we expect.  I'd like our local Mopar's to set the bar 
      for this years featured clubs; so mark your calendars, plan on coming out for a 
      good time with some great cars and music and lastly, drop me a note and let me know.

05/08	1st Annual Bedford Cystic Fibrosis Car Show and Dance --  Bedford,VA

	This is a Car Show/Dance to raise awareness to 
	Cystic Fibrosis in which my son past away from on 01-11-10 
	at the age of 26 years old.There are 2 classes for old 
	cars, Best in Show 1,2,3, and People choice 1,2,3 and then 
	the same for New cars and Bike classes the same as for 
	cars.Car show is from 10am to 3pm.Cars, Trucks, bikes, Can

	An all-Hudson car show will be held at Skyline

5/7   Tidewater Mopar Club Friday night at the Smithfield cruise-in  --  Smithfield

      Friday night, May 7th is Tidewater Mopar Club night at the Smithfield 
      cruise-in held in the NAPA store parking lot at 1802 S Church Street in 
      Smithfield, from 6:00 -- 9:00 pm.  

      These Friday night shows are an all wheels event and have taken on a life 
      of their own this year with great turnouts.  The first show had 79 cars, 
      trucks and motor cycles. This past week, 16 April, there were 83 attendees 
      with the local Mustang club as the featured group.

      The nights have been great with Tom Norris providing music as a backdrop 
      to the cars and food and drinks available from Don's Hot Dogs.

      We'd like to have  8 -- 12 Mopars attend as the featured club with a reserved 
      parking area.  I have a few cars already signed up but, still need more, if 
      you're planning on attending, please drop me a return Email so I can let the 
      Lions Club know how many we expect.  I'd like our local Mopar's to set the bar 
      for this years featured clubs; so mark your calendars, plan on coming out for a 
      good time with some great cars and music and lastly, drop me a note and let me know.

	This is a Car Show/Dance to raise awareness to 
	Cystic Fibrosis in which my son past away from on 01-11-10

5/7   Tidewater Mopar Club Friday night at the Smithfield cruise-in  --  Smithfield

      { from TMC member Dick Collins: }

      Friday night, May 7th is Tidewater Mopar Club night at the Smithfield 
      cruise-in held in the NAPA store parking lot at 1802 S Church Street in 
      Smithfield, from 6:00 -- 9:00 pm.  

      These Friday night shows are an all wheels event and have taken on a life 
      of their own this year with great turnouts.  The first show had 79 cars, 
      trucks and motor cycles. This past week, 16 April, there were 83 attendees 
      with the local Mustang club as the featured group.

      The nights have been great with Tom Norris providing music as a backdrop 
      to the cars and food and drinks available from Don's Hot Dogs.

      We'd like to have  8 -- 12 Mopars attend as the featured club with a reserved 
      parking area.  I have a few cars already signed up but, still need more, if 
      you're planning on attending, please drop me a return Email so I can let the 
      Lions Club know how many we expect.  I'd like our local Mopar's to set the bar 
      for this years featured clubs; so mark your calendars, plan on coming out for a 
      good time with some great cars and music and lastly, drop me a note and let me know.

4/17  Classic Cruisers, 2010 Cruise-In   --  Grafton/Yorktown

      start this Saturday the 17th. 
      Please note this is for twenty years & older (1990 & older vehicles.)

      The Original Classic Car Cruz-in in Grafton/Yorktown 
      ... every Saturday night the Classic Cruisers Car Club will 
      host its weekly Cruz-ins beginning April 17 until October 
      16 at Hampton Roads Harley Davidson in Yorktown (6450 
      George Washington Mm Hwy). The fun starts at 5:30 pm and 
      usually runs till 9:30PM! This is the largest Cruise-in
      around and for good reasons. We always sponsor a local, 
      monthly charity; Yes, ALL funds raised go to charity! There 
      is a $2 fee to show your car, but spectators are free. 
      However, donations for the charities are gladly welcomed. 

      We have the best hot dogs (Don's), the a fantastic DJ

Cruisers Car Club will host its weekly Cruz-ins beginning

	Youth Challenge is currently raffling off a restored antique Porsche 911 Carrera 
	in an effort to raise funds.  We are selling  ONLY 600 tickets at $50 each, giving 
	participant excellent odds at winning this beautiful car.  Someone will own an 
	antique Porsche for ONLY $50!!!  The drawing event will be held on May 22nd with 
	live entertainment and free food.  The funds from this raffle will go to help us in 
	obtaining a new location for our Thrift Store.  Our Thrift Store is a major portion 
	of our budget (about 30%) and the lease on our current location will not be renewed, 
	as owner has other plans for the facility.  We have a new location but we need the 
	funds to make it happen.  Without our Thrift Store we will need to cut services, 
	possibly closing our Women's facility.  Any help you could offer in spreading the 
	word and/or selling tickets would be greatly appreciated!! (I've attached a picture

    Hey TMC members,
       Well Spring is here and the first TMC car show will be 
       going on this Saturday March 27th 9am to 3pm at our 
       sponsoring dealership Hall Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. For 
       those of you that were hibernating all winter, Virginia 
       Beach Dodge merged in November with Hall Chrysler Jeep 
       which is at a new location down at 3152 Virginia Beach 
       Blvd. If your coming from Rosemont, go four traffic lights 
       down toward the oceanfront and look to your left. It is 
       easy to find cause there will be a Challenger spinning 
       around on a pedestal on the corner in front of the new car 
       building by the traffic light. The show is being held old 
       Pontiac dealership parking lot which is right next to it. I 
       will be there at 7:30 am and we will start letting cars 
       setup around 8:00 am. Officially the show starts at 9:00 
       am. This is the first time we have ever done a show here so 
       there may be a little confusion at first, but there will be 
       signs and club members there to help you get parked. If 
       your bringing your car on a trailer the is plenty of room 
       to park and unload across the street in the Church parking 
       lot that Hall is allowed to use. We will be set up under 
       the tent where you can pay your $5 and register your car. 
       We also will have the awesome new 2010 Mopar Madness 
       t-shirts available along with ones from the past at reduced 
       prices. If you want to join the club or renew their 
       membership we will take care of that too. A special car to 
       see is Tom Learch's new 2008 Orange Viper with the 
       Hennessey 700R upgrade.  Look forward to seeing you out 
       there!

	Hello Car Lovers, The City of Hampton is celebrating it's 400th Anniversary
   in 2010 and we are looking to have a car show as part of our Hunt for Hampton History. 
   The Hunt is a great event on March 6, 2010 from 9am-3pm at the Hampton History Museum 
   and the Rupert Sargent Building. We will have everything from WWII re-enactors, a 
   Buckroe Amusement park exhibit, model trains, and much much more. A car show would

The new TMC window stickers are in - you get 2 free with your membership.
If you got your packet before the stickers came in, please pick them up

The TMC website is having some problems; our web host changed things without
letting us know in advance and we've still working on fixing things.  Stuff
hadn't been lost, it just may be hard to access.

The TMC summer show at Hall Dodge has been pushed back from June to July.

The TMC is not sponsoring this years Virginia Beach Boardwalk show.

The new TMC window stickers are in - you get 2 free with your membership.
If you got your packet before the stickers came in, please pick them up
a club meeting or show.  If you can't make either, please let us know and
we'll get them to you. 

Renewals - For most of us, it's time to renew our TMC membership.  The form is
           the website and is the perfect time to make sure all your information
           is current; mail it to our new PO Box or bring it to the next meeting.
           New membership cards will be mailed out in batches.

Email addresses - As part of the renewal process, the club secretary will send
                  a request to each Email address to make sure it works OK.  Please
                  respond so we know the Email is correct (quite a number don't
                  seem to work right).

Newsletter - To save expenses, Prez Butch plans to send the newsletter on
             paper *only* to those who have not given us Email addresses - please let
             us know if you need one on paper; if you don't, you'll only get

		 It's that time of year again...you do need a special Valentine's

	   haven't thought about before...thanks to Ron Graham for finding this one!

           When? Saturday Feb 13th (evening before the big day) at 8 PM.

           How much coin? Yep, you had to ask... It's not free but it's
	   cheap...we'll get a special deal, just $10 each

           Eats?  Drinks and snacks there (some folks may also bring pot
	   luck dishes) plus a pub right outside the back door for heartier grub!  Or

	   bistro (or Mc Donald's, if you can get away with it...good luck with that;
	   your mileage may vary and will probably be lower!)

Renewals - For most of us, it's time to renew our TMC membership.  The form is
           the website and is the perfect time to make sure all your information
           is current; mail it to our new PO Box or bring it to the next meeting.

TMC members can join SAM's Club - thanks to former TMC president Bill Laurent (laurent_anita@verizon.net)

     Many years ago when I was club President, I established a TMC business
     membership at SAM's Club. I just received the renewal notice.  I can add
     additional TMC members to this account with the renewal.  The SAM's business
     membership cost is only $35/year (you will receive a membership card for you
     and your spouse). The benefit of joining under this business membership is
     the discounted membership price and the ability to shop during the 'business
     member only' store hours.  Shopping during the business member store hours
     is very nice (NO LINES!).  You still have to pay sales tax on you purchases.
     To become a SAM's member under the TMC business account, I have to sign
     up/renew club members as a group. If you would like to be added to the TMC
     SAM's Club account, give me a call at (757) 380-7807 (my desk number) and I
     will get your information over the phone and tell you what to do to pick up
     your SAM's membership.  For those currently on the account who want to renew
     for another year, please mail me a check for $35 made out to Bill Laurent at
     the address below and I will in-turn pay the TMC renewal (one payment must
     be made for the group).  New members and renewals need to contact me NLT

                  flood damage on used vehicles - so dealers no longer have
                  to tell you or report that a vehicle sustained flood damage 
                  if they spent less than $5000 to fix it.

		 { Robin Abbott, a NN delegate (and a person I trust) warns
                   that this isn't good for the consumer and was quoted in
                   today's Daily Press.  Buyer beware, especially in VA,
                   of cars imported from other states or CA. }

	January 30 - 12th Annual Polar Bear Run - This is a mystery run so no one knows where 
	they are going until they get there. We will leave the Valero gas station 
	(23002 Airport Street, Petersburg, VA 23803) at the intersection of Route 226 
	(Cox Road) and Route 460 in Dinwiddie at PRECISELY 8:30 AM on Saturday January 
	30th. If you show up at 8:31 be sure to look for the taillights in the distance. 
	We will take a ride to a small town where you will be able to see a shop full of 
	interesting stuff. And I have a wonderful luncheon buffet set up for us in another 
	town. It will all be over by 1 or 1:30 including lunch and you'll only be about 50
